Windy City Open Mic, hosted by Kat Fitzgerald, occurs each Monday at a fabulous little venue called Uptown Lounge. Sign up usually starts at 7pm and the music gets going around 8 and ends sometime after that. Each performer will get 2-3 songs depending on just how crowded it is that night.

History

Windy City Open Mic is hosted by Kat Fitzgerald. She originally hosted another popular open mic for over 4 years, looking for any way possible to help performers have a place to play. Local and touring musicians have always been welcome and no matter what, Kat does her best to help promote everyone. There is not enough good music in the world – and what is out there needs to be heard by many more people.

The Future

Windy City Open Mic will be expanding throughout out 2010 to more venues in addition to hosting more events and showcases. Currently we host another fabulous performance called “Four Women Showcase” which is a showcase featuring 4 fantastic female singer/songwriters, each doing a 30 minute set and who knows, sometimes even throwing in a little collaboration.
